The NASPW equipped on the green brick

A seminar on this subject was organized within the NASPW Campus on Thursday March 23, 2023, massively mobilizing officials and students of the said school.

Initiated by EDEN AFRICA, the project "Green bricks: installation and fitting out of a production unit for cement-stabilized compressed clay bricks for the promotion of ecological constructions" has provided the National Advanced School of Public Works with more tools on the benefits of the use of green brick in terms of Buildings and Public Works. During the various presentations, several points have been raised:

Advantage of using green bricks:

  • - Reduction of pollutants in the air;
  • - Low energy expenditure on site;
  • - Allows to have a certain optimal level of humidity in a building;
  • - Reduced construction cost;
  • - Sound insulation without the need for coating;
  • - For the moment, there is no tax on the land.

Types of mud bricks used:

  • - Terracotta brick with clay as material and terracotta as methodology;
  • - The stabilized earth brick with the laterite material and as a methodology the addition of a stabilizer such as cement.

Recommendations:

  • - Obtain the authorization of the owner of the land to be exploited before any use;
  • - Use the earth responsibly, i.e. by practicing sustainable development, one of the principles of which is to think about future generations.
