On February 24, 2020, 23 students from the Civil Engineering club of the National Advanced School of Public Works paid a visit to the site of the Mbog-Betsi road rehabilitation project in Yaounde.

Project description

The Mvog-Betsi Road Rehabilitation Project aims to create a bypass by unclogging the main road, and also facilitate access to hospitals and schools in this area.

Description of the ongoing Works

During this visit, the students attended the study of the connection of a stretch of road with a rocky massif about 7cm from the red line of the project.

Goals of the outing

It was a question of better impregante the theoretical elements learned in the courses of Geotechnics 1 (level 3), Project Management (level 4) Local Materials (level 4 and 5), and Road Infrastructure (level 4 and 5) such as :

  •   Types of roadways
  •   Structure of a pavement
  •   Used materials
  •   Tests carried out
  •   Pavement design elements

 

At the end of this visit, the students learned both geotechnically and project management the following elements:

  •   Description of the road used
  •   Description of layered materials and thicknesses
  •   Tests carried out
  •   Contingency management
  •   Description of working methods in urban areas etc.
