Tuesday, June 04, 2019, the Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection and Sustainable Development (MINENPSD) and the Environmental Engineering club of the National Advanced School of Public Works (NASPW) headed by KWALI Denise, organized a round table discussion on the theme "Air Pollution" at the amphitheater 100 of the NASPW. A meeting attended by a delegation from the MINENPSD, and the NASPW’s staff members and students.

Goals

  •  Urge other jurisdictions to explore new forms of energy production;
  •  Urge engineers and the building materials manufacturers on the deterioration of infrastructures related to air pollution;
  •  Increase public awareness on skin attacks, respiratory and digestive tracts attacks, and food crop attacks due to air pollution.

 

The recommendations

  •  Solutions must be found to better manage pollutants and greenhouse gases;
  •  Major polluters should reconsider how they interact with nature in order to reduce the production of pollutants in all their forms, as well as greenhouse gases;
  •  Installation of cycle paths;
  •  Integrate air quality into building design;
  •  Reduce emissions by 32% in 2035.
