Goals
- Mastering geotechnical aspects while dealing with the anarchical urban planning of African towns;
- Handing-over of certificates to recipients.
Recommendations
- In terms of innovation on the monitoring of geotechnical structures through the use of optical fiber, you must have:
- A monitoring system of the buildings and structures condition;
- A system of profitability with regard to the increasing number of exposed structural elements;
- An alert system to inform civil protection actors in case of an imminent failure in a part of the structure, which can guide them on the selection of countermeasures activities.
- For the constructions in coastal zones when using wood, concrete or steel, it is necessary to:
- Treat the wood to make it stronger in case of either insects or moisture attack ;
- Collect rain data which allows to know the intensity of the rains and also the variation of the highest levels of the seas’ water.
