Recommendations

• In terms of innovation on the monitoring of geotechnical structures through the use of optical fiber, you must have:
  • A monitoring system of the buildings and structures condition;
  • A system of profitability with regard to the increasing number of exposed structural elements;
  • An alert system to inform civil protection actors in case of an imminent failure in a part of the structure, which can guide them on the selection of countermeasures activities.
• For the constructions in coastal zones when using wood, concrete or steel, it is necessary to:
  • Treat the wood to make it stronger in case of either insects or moisture attack ;
  • Collect rain data which allows to know the intensity of the rains and also the variation of the highest levels of the seas’ water.
