Tuesday, March 19, 2019, the Architectural club of the National Advanced School of Public Works (NASPW) of Yaounde, organized a conference at the amphitheater 100 on the theme "The architecture of Cameroonian towns in 2035"

Goals

  • Attract the attention of the students on the disappearance of the Cameroonian architecture;
  • Know what Cameroon has to offer as architecture in its cultural heritage;
  • Make students aware of the value and use of local material;
  • Sensitize on the conservation of local civilization.

The recommendations

  • Be able to speak of his know-how;
  • Avoid destroying the ancestral architecture;
  • Go through Cameroon in general and Africa in particular to learn and raise awareness around oneself, in order to have an architecture of our own.  Example cases of the huts of the Mousgoum , and the use of the hundred years old Moabi whose use allows Cameroonians to have architectures of very long durations;
  • Copy the best of foreign architecture, and apply it in Cameroon, but according to the Cameroonian culture;
  • Work together for a better cameroonian architecture;
  • Make ancestral criticism to allow innovation, to leave a modern and better architecture to future generations;
  • Protecting the environment is protecting the architecture;
  • The architect is the one who innovates, but must invent while capturing the ancestral knowledge;
  • The architect is the one who dialogues in order to create the living together.
