Abstract
Forests hasœ been at the centre of climate change negotiations for a number
of years bec-ause of their potential to absorb carbon dioxide, which is heavily
responsible for climate change, Indeed, deforestation and forest degradation
accounts for about 200/0 of greenhouse gas ernissions. ln this chapter, we adapt
a large scale a method developed to assess the quantity of carbon stored
by marginal vegetation formations in the Congo watershed. To achieve this,
the adopted approach is based on the closed vegetation formations of the
Ngaoundere plateau in Adamaoua-Cameroon. The approach in question
uses an indirect technique based on allometric equations and a generalized
coefficient. Floristic surveys were first carried out on 90 plots Of 400 mz each.
